Immigration Reform Update

An update from the National Evangelical Immigration Table:
Your prayers are bearing fruit!  Yesterday the Senate took an important step toward passage of immigration reform legislation by approving a major expansion of border security personnel and technology, addressing a concern of many Senators.
No bill is perfect.  The Senate bill results from bipartisan negotiations which have attempted to address many issues and concerns.  The bill was amended more than one hundred times in the Judiciary Committee, and it has been further amended on the Senate floor.
The Congressional Budget Office estimates that immigration reform will reduce the federal deficit by $875 billion and will grow our economy by more than 5% over a twenty year period.
The stage is now set for a final vote by the end of the week.  Each Senator must weigh all the issues and decide whether to support the bill or not.  Some Senators are genuinely undecided, while others may be weighing the political cost of doing what they know to be right.  Pray that God guides every Senator as they decide on one of the most important votes of their political career.
A strong bipartisan vote would give added momentum to reform as action moves to the House of Representatives.  Pray that Senators have wisdom and courage as they make this important decision.
In Christ,
The Evangelical Immigration Table

Will you come with us to DC on July 24th to Stand for Reform?

Join us & the Evangelical Immigration Table in DC!
The time for immigration reform rooted in Biblical teaching is now. In Washington, Congress is working on legislation. A bipartisan bill is expected to be voted on in the Senate this week. We are following these developments as we continue to call our leaders towards bipartisan, humane, commonsense immigration reform. A bill will be expected in the House very soon, the next hurdle needed to pass commonsense immigration reform.
In churches and communities across America, evangelicals are responding to the Word of God by praying and mobilizing on behalf of immigrants in their midst. On July 24th we will join together in DC at a critical point in our history to ensure our movement’s voice is heard by our elected leaders. We want to make sure that Orange County & Southern California faith leaders are there.

Action Alert: New Management At Nava’s Car Wash Ignores Union Contract!

Action Alert: New Management at Nava’s Car Wash Ignores Union Contract!

We need your help this week! One of our union carwashes in South LA is under new management and refuses to acknowledge that this is a union shop. The new owners have attempted to force the union out and have fired some of the union workers. Please join us on the picket line this Thursday and Saturday in support of the carwasheros and carwasheras and their families.

Come out for an hour or the whole day. We need your support!
