IMMIGRATION: Vow to continue citizenship push
Moises Escalante said at a downtown Riverside immigrant-rights rally that he and other immigrant-rights activists will not give up enactment of a law with a path to citizenship for millions of undocumented immigrants.
“We will not be satisfied and will not rest until a just — not only comprehensive — immigration reform is passed in Congress,” said Escalante, leader organizer of the faith-based social justice group Pueblo de Fe Unido. “We will continue praying and voting and marching and calling and writing letters and organizing our communities, until every immigrant who works hard, pays taxes and is part of this nation of immigrants has the opportunity of becoming a citizen of the United States of America.”
The 80 people at the rally are going to march in a few minutes toward Our Lady of Guadalupe Shrine, where more demonstrators are waiting.
